If you are a transplant patient, grooming can be a bit tricky.
Transplant medication, kidney disease as well as the side effects of medications can all issues and it results in things like hair, skin and grooming often getting neglected.

These issues include:
- Scalp dryness
- Itchiness
- Dandruff
- Psoriasis
- Acne
- Breakouts
- Breakage
- Greying
- Bald patches
- Oiliness
My Personal Haircare Routine
As a transplant patient I suffer from sebbhoric dermatitis and dry scalp.

Similarly due to the medication I also have sensitive oily-eczema prone skin which often breaks out into acne. This is also influenced by factors such as hormonal changes, diet and lifestyle changes.
My haircare routine involves low maintenance quick washes and using baby oil for skin.

On days when I am exhausted my simplest routine showering with a tar based shampoo such as
- Nizoral
- Ionil T
- Redwin Coal Tar or Tea Tree Shampoo

(If none of these are available, or you are experiencing severe itching rub in clotrimazole cream or solution such as Canestan Solution onto the roots.
For a going out look:
Days in which I have a bit more time/energy
Wash/shampoo as normal
Incorporate a hair mask such as an Aloe Vera gel

Condition with a repair conditioner. If you have fine hair, be careful to use a very limited amount to avoid buildup. Hair naturally becomes oily at the base of the scalp fastest so often it is easier to avoid applying conditioner near scalp and instead focus on moisturising tips/split ends.

Brow Dry for 10 mins on high (my hair is quite fine and tends to get greasy very quickly so I usually don’t need to add any extra product.
I use the Remington Hair Dryer
However those with frizz prone hair recommend Vaseline Moisturiser: run a thumbtack amount simply to moisten hands and run fingers through hair. Immediately blow dry to avoid buildup and greasiness.
Straighten hair: Next I use the Remington flat iron to straighten to straighten hair for approx 2 minutes.
Quickly brush through knots. Straightening is quite damaging, however, fine hair also becomes greasy very quickly, immediately sweat, heat and oil from hands. Straightening helps pickup any extra oil to keep buildup in check until next hair wash day.

Finally finish with L’Oréal hair spray
If going for truly glam and using makeup – I often fill in the front of my hairline with a touch of black eyeshadow. This is entire optional
